YOHOOO who's two?

Ignacio celebrated his second birthday a week early with his friends and family in the U.S. before jetting off to Panama to whoop it up with his family down there. It was so fun to have such a great mix of people to laugh with. Ignacio spent the entire party with ALL his cousins. The best part was the "dance-off" which he and Adriana as a couple clearly won. Cutting the cake shortly after he almost burned his eye brows off when trying to blow them out. Mama and Papa helped out as to avoid a 911 call.

Ignacio got so many great, diverse gifts including this electric guitar from Tio Miguel and Tia Maria. Among the other gifts... markers, a choo-choo train set, books, puzzles, a plastic food set, a BIG sled and a music set.
He got really focused as we sang.

Our neighbor made this cupcake tower, which, if I were a good suburban mom I would have made. It was so beautiful and a total hit!

Hey, you guys ate all those chips! Addison also spent 15 minutes alone in a corner hiding trying to open a bag of Teddy Grahams.

Ignacio's cake...keeping in line with our transportation theme. Thanks Tia Casey!

Meet Senor Ignacio...that's Mr. Ignacio to you.

Ignacio went to get his first professional haircut and he was a VERY big boy sitting in the chair. He didn't fuss, cry or whine when the scissors or the buzzer approached his head and face. I must say, as his mommy it is odd to see him looking so grown up but he is turning two and is a bigger boy now. Plus, the mullet look just isn't in anymore no matter where you go. and I was getting a little tired of hearing, "She is so cute!" We can always let it grow out again but for now he is Senor Ignacio, a big boy. Just wait until he's in his suit at the wedding!

Kid Swap

Katrina is heavy and pregnant. Krista is lean and not pregnant. Katrina looses energy quickly and needs to rest. Krista is looking to be more active. Katrina has experience with tiny babies who know what they want. Krista loves playing with toddlers. Krista sometimes needs a break from caring from a newborn. Katrina sometimes needs a break from the rapid pace of her toddler.

KID SWAP!!!

For the past two weeks Krista and I have been Kid Swapping. Krista takes the boys to the park, plays outside, chases after them and pulls them in the wagon...all of the things that are hard for Katrina to do with a growing belly. Katrina stays home with Adia and puts her to sleep and cuddles up with her or puts her in the crib, does some light cleaning around the house or gets lunch or dinner ready...all of the things that are hard for Krista to do with a toddler at her ankles. A perfect match!

All About Papa

All week the number one word in our house is "mama"...Mama this and Mama that. Then the weekend comes and Papa is number one in the world of Ignacio...at least during the day! Ignacio is very aware of where Papa is and what he is doing. He goes and plays outside with Papa, eats with Papa, wrestles with Papa and plays with Papa. Ignacio will scream, "Papa leon!" meaning he wants Angel to pretend with all his might that he is a lion and Ignacio quickly gets on all fours to be the "bebe leon". Not only do the weekends provide Mama with a break from some of the action, they are inspiring. When you ask Ignacio who his best friend is he quickly responds, "Papa" and you can feel that it is only the beginning of something extraordinarily wonderful.
Angel put shaving cream on Ignacio's face and used a spoon to "shave" it off, just like Papa does.

Here they are in just part of our weekend rituals. We all crawl into our bed at daybreak and snuggle and eat cereal out of the box, make our way to the kitchen and eat a good breakfast with the radio playing and toys strewn about and then end up in his breadroom where Angel wrestles with Ignacio on the floor, tries to to build towers out of blocks and reads.

Grapefruit

The last three times Ignacio has eaten yogurt he has to put his bunny ears on...one of the many mysteries of the times. This night I gave him a piece of grapefruit. You will see the results!
