Bachelor vs. Baby

So tonight is Monday and you all know what that means....The Bachelor is on. This season it is a british man trying to win the hearts of 25 ditsy american women. Probably the most pathetic season ever but do you think that would deter me? Oh no. And so it will be the weekly battle of the Bachelor vs. the Baby. You see, Angel Ignacio very rarely thinks it is a good idea for his mom to watch tv so I have to get very creative if there is a program I REALLY want to watch, like tonight. Wish me luck. I need my 60 minutes of trashy indulgence!

Ppppppmmmm!

So it is late at night and I am in bed just falling asleep when Angel brings little peanut all swaddled and sleepy into the room and places him in his bassinet next to our bed. As I am drifting off to sleep to enter my dream world I hear in the dark,"PPPPPMMMMM." I wait a moment, thinking that maybe I am dreaming when I hear it again, "PPMMMMMMMMMMM." Angel Ignacio recently learned how to bring his lips together to make this funny sound and has decided to practice it at 11:30 at night, all alone in the dark. As I lay in bed I can't help but throw my head in my pillow and laugh as I just lay there listening to him perfect his new sound. After a few minutes he falls asleep and so do I.

Open Wide!

Guess who had a little bit of baby oatmeal with breast milk tonight?? Oh yes, with the ability to sit up assisted and an interest in food coupled with the ability to swallow mushy madness our little one has entered the world of semi-watered-down-sloppy-almost-liquid solids. We read that "the baby may reject the spoon" and "it may take a few tries to get anything in their mouth." Not our little hungry monster. He saw that spoon and mouth opened wide and down the shoot it went. Granted it was almost pure liquid and only three little spoonfuls but he seemed to think it was neat. What a big boy. And so the adventure begins...

Drool Monster

Look at me grab at things!! I can also roll over now! Don't mind my drool!

Little Man

What a little man! He hates his car seat by the way!

My Big Boy

Here is a recent picture of our beautiful baby boy...just waking up and helping me make breakfast. He almost always has a bib on because there is more drool that comes out of his mouth than rain in the Sahara. Tomorrow he will be four months old and I can and can't believe it all at the same time. I feel so lucky to have had all this time with him at home, just focusing on being a mom and adjusting to our new family. He is so precious and I just try to enjoy every smile, every laugh, every new little thing he does. It is so refreshing to see the world through his eyes, with everything new and unnamed. He lights up when he sees Angel and I and when his eyes connect with ours it is magical. I often wonder what he is thinking when he looks at me. I often wonder why he chose he us and what he has to teach us. All I know is that there is no love like it and it touches me in such a special place. So, as my baby boy continues to become a big boy I just hope to be present with him in the seemingly unimportant moments that, in the end, become the most meaningful.

Blogalicious

Well, here is my FIRST ever post on my FIRST ever blog. Thanks to my friend Auburn for bringing me into this century and showing me the ropes. Love ya Aub! Hi Trevor! Since I don't know what else to write or who I am writing for I think I will leave it at that for now. I have to get in the blog mind-set and blog later. I wonder how many times I can use the word BLOG now that I have one? It sounds so cool. Hasta la Bloga!
